Why Your Sleep Schedule Might Be Out of Whack When Traveling

Updated: Mar 18, 2020

Staring at your phone screen either before bed or immediately after waking up in the morning can impact your ability to conquer not only your day, but also your night, otherwise referred to as your sleep cycle. As useful as our technological devices are, screen time utilization can be destructive, mainly from too much blue light exposure.

“You spend about 1/3 of your life sleeping.”

Blue Light is the Culprit

Blue light is found in everyday devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, and eReaders. We as a society are significantly increasing our screen time exposure to unhealthy levels. Scientifically, our brains when exposed to certain elements of light, may signal to our body that we should stay awake. For example, blue light simulating daylight results in a signal to the brain saying it’s time to be awake.

The team here at WorldWave utilizes f.lux daily to prevent as much harmful light exposure as possible. f.lux has improved our lives and eyes. It’s freely available at justgetflux.com for pc and mac at the moment. f.lux works by transforming your computer’s display to match the time of day. It determines the time zone you’re in to automatically adjust the blue light exposure being generated by your screen.
